From Record Collector, "The long-player augments their recent six-track vinyl minialbum (including their rancorous version of Lou Reed’s Kill Your Sons) with five new Lunch/ Johnston originals and a steaming cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s That Smell. The group’s cavernous bass lumberings, squalling sax, box-funking drums and roaring Hammond create dense, churning backdrops for Lunch’s cancerous love calls and sandpaper putdowns on tracks such as Your Love Can’t Pay My Rent, God Is A Bullet and Doughboy. Her voice, marinated by years of black outpourings, sometimes recalls a delightful collision between Captain Beefheart and Jayne County, unless Lunch is reaching back to the smoky Fever-style of Bad Boy Bobby. Ultimately, and most importantly, they all sound like they’re having a total blast."
